A clinic for hematology and oncology treatments is located in the Outpatients Clinic of the Laurentian Hospital. Treatments are administered there under the supervision of a team of medical specialists.
A nurse navigator acts as a key resource person in the evaluation of the needs presented by the patients. Right from the start of the examination/treatment period, she plays a central role in answering questions and for the transmission of information. A team of professionals is closely associated with the oncology palliative care clinic so that she can respond to a variety of needs within the scope of interventions undertaken with the patient. The team is brought in upon referral by the oncology nurse navigator.
Among the professionals working in the outpatient oncology and palliative care clinic, you have access to: a treatment room nurse, a wound-care nurse, an oncology nurse navigator, a palliative care nurse navigator, a pastoral counsellor, a nutritionist, a pharmacist and psychosocial support.
